Hi there! I’m Clara Mello, a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in journalism through the Hussman School of Media and Journalism. I am indecisive so I also have minors in art history and data science.

I am from São Paulo, Brazil, but I have moved around quite a bit: I’ve also lived in London, England, and currently live in Washington D.C.. As for hobbies, I have loved the arts for as long as I can remember. I started theatre in preschool, which I was involved in until my graduation in May ’21. I also love the visual arts, which I took an interest to in high school; I was the illustrator for the newspaper, which led me to my interest in journalism. My dad is a graphic designer, but has worked with environmental reporting and documenting, so I have been exposed to the field ever since I was little; I have always known I wanted to pursue a career in something creative.

Before you ask, I’m not exactly sure what I want to be when I grow up, but I am passionate about using my digital media skills to create positive impact in the world. I am a creative person who enjoys exploring different forms of expression and communication. I have faced some skepticism from people who think that digital media is just a hobby, but I believe that it is much more than that. I aspire to find a career where I can use my talents to make a difference.
